Mission
The Pleasant City Family Reunion Committee is committed to:
- Sponsoring educational programs and activities that celebrate African American history and culture, fostering self-esteem and identity for youth and adults.
- Collecting, preserving, and showcasing photographs, artifacts, and stories that tell the rich history of Pleasant City and its pioneers.
- Encouraging youth to take pride in their heritage and inspiring them to excel in all positive endeavors.
- Strengthening family and community ties through reunions and collaborative efforts.
- Bridging the gap between the proud accomplishments of the past and the opportunities of the present, while supporting revitalization and redevelopment efforts that honor the legacy of Pleasant City.
Vision
To honor and preserve the legacy of Pleasant City, Florida’s oldest African American community, by establishing a historic museum dedicated to its pioneers while fostering a renewed sense of pride, unity, and vitality for future generations.
